Project objectives/

short summary

The Lake2Lake project increased competiveness of cross-border tourist offer using complementary natural attractions of the target area. Peruča Lake in Croatia and Rama Lake in BiH are located at about 80 km of airline distance. Their natural geographic locations enable unobstructed rowing, canoeing and fishing for professional and recreational athletes. Lake2Lake project partners invested their efforts in setting-up of necessary infrastructure for sport and recreational activities on both lakes in order to create a baseline for further development of active tourism.

Main project results included establishment of the Rowing Centre Rama, provision of necessary equipment for sport and recreational activities on both lakes, installation of tourist and signpost signalization and regulation of access roads to lakes. Common marketing and promotional campaigns were finalized with successful organization of two ceremonial sport events identifying Rama and Peruča Lakes as excellent places for rowing regattas and preparation of rowers for world championships. Networking through tourism, sport and recreation created preconditions for long-term partnership and co-operation of stakeholders from both partner countries and the two lakes became main driver of future tourism development in the areas of Vrlika and Prozor – Rama.
